Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #6

Hi friends! I have another piece that I did for CHAB. I am having so much fun with these challenges and the projects being submitted are just incredible. My goodness, lots of eye candy each and every time. The challenge this time was a sketch and the twist was to use something new to your stash along with something older from your stash. Here is what I came up with:

 

This is going to be an anniversary gift for my nephew and his wife. And very much unlike me, it’s done early. LOL! It’s actually going into a shadow box but I couldn’t get a good picture of it so I took it apart again to get the pictures.

The older stash things are the doily, lace that I got with some blog candy a long while ago, the Pinkpaislee paper, Perfect Pearls pink gumball mist and the photos. I got the photos from their save the date postcard which I cut apart.

The new things are the flowers from Michaels that I misted with the Perfect Pearls mist, and the little banners are made with a punch I just got from Stampin’ Up.

I think they will like it and I love creating things with a specific person in mind.

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #5

Phew! I’m just getting this one posted at the last minute.  I ended up taking an unexpected trip so I almost missed it.

I needed a sympathy card so I searched through my neglected stamps and used this Waltzing Mouse frame as a jumping off point. I love the frame stamp set but sadly it has been used only once prior to this card.

I don’t know about you but I really struggle with sympathy cards. For some reason it’s the one occasion that I like to keep the card super simple and focus on what I hand print inside. Anyhow here is what I came up with:

I used watercolor paper because I wanted the little bit of texture. The flower, sentiment, heart and black base are all Stampin’ Up and the black ribbon is a piece from my stash of loose ribbon pieces. Here is a shot of the inside before I wrote in it:

It’s pretty simple but I was happy with how it turned out.

Craft Hoarders Anonymous Blog Challenge 4

Challenge #4 Show Some Sparkle, Glitz, or Glam!

This one kind of threw me for a little while. I’m not usually any of those things. The inspiration from the design team helped get me on track. Gloria Stengel has put together an awesome team who always provide me with a ton of inspiration.

I decided I would make a chunky ATC.

This started out as a chunk of  regular old 2×4 my sweet (and patient) husband cut up for me. First thing I did was give the whole thing a good coat of Gesso.  After Gesso I glued down torn pieces from an old dictionary. Then the fun part began!

I used Silk Acrylics to cover the dictionary paper. Primary Elements to paint my handmade flower and the Prima wooden leaves. I die cut two Budding Branches using one of my favorite dies from Die-Namites and colored those with Primary Elements too.

The blingy butterflies were found in my stash of blingy stuff and I have no idea where they came from but they suited this ATC.

Wow! First Post

Well, here I am. Making the giant leap into the blogging world. I hope to use the blog as a place to share my love of crafts.

My style? I don’t really have one in particular but instead enjoy working with pretty papers, inks and found items. Sometimes it’s a simple card and other times it’s on canvas or altered items. I may even occasionally share a recipe or two.
